The Town of Danville and the Danville Police Department are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for its youth. The School Resource Officers (SRO) are assigned to the two San Ramon Valley Unified School District High Schools that are located in Danville. The SRO assists the school administration in maintaining a safe and secure environment by providing onsite security and staff and student training.
Knowledge & Experience
Both students and staff benefit from the SROs knowledge and experience in handling a variety of situations such as:
Assaults
Controlled Substances
Thefts
Trespassers
Weapons Violations
In addition, SROs provide a service to the surrounding community by addressing concerns such as loitering, speeding, or loud car radios, which many times involve students coming or going from school.
Programs
The Family and Community Services Specialist (FCSS) provides programs and assistance to K-8th grade students. The FCSS does presentations promoting responsible choices and life skills. Some of the topics include:
Alcohol & Drug Prevention
Bullying
Decision Making
Digital Citizenship
Respect
Tolerance
The FCSS serves as a liaison to families and youth in crisis and provides specialized assistance to the Juvenile Diversion program.
