Applications Open for the Danville Citizens Police Academy

The Danville Police Department is now accepting applications for its spring Citizens Police Academy, an in-depth program designed to provide residents age 18 and older with an inside look at law enforcement operations. This six-week course, starting April 15, meets Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. with one Saturday session on April 25. The program offers a comprehensive overview of various aspects of police work through a combination of hands-on learning and classroom instruction.

The curriculum for the Citizens Police Academy covers a variety of essential law enforcement topics, including patrol procedures, traffic enforcement, impaired driving investigations, crime scene processing, crime prevention techniques, criminal prosecution, and driving instruction. In addition to classroom sessions, participants will have the opportunity to engage in practical exercises that help them better understand the challenges and responsibilities faced by law enforcement officers.

The Citizens Police Academy is offered twice a year, with sessions in the spring and fall. Those unable to commit to the full program this spring are encouraged to apply for a future session. To apply for the Spring 2026 Academy, interested individuals age 18 and older should complete and submit the application by April 1 at 5 p.m.
