Town of Danville provides many ways residents can give back to the community.
DANVILLE, Calif. (November 22, 2023): In Danville, residents can commemorate the global “GivingTuesday” initiative through donation opportunities facilitated by town staff. “GivingTuesday” is an independent nonprofit that fosters giving, collaboration, and generosity, focused on the Tuesday after the big Black Friday shopping weekend. In collaboration with local community groups, the Town has three convenient and meaningful options to give back to the community this holiday season.
Danville Youth Council Blanket Drive: The Danville Youth Council is looking for both volunteers and supplies to donate blankets to local charities. Through December 1, fleece and no sew kit donations are being accepted at most Danville schools. View the donation box location list, learn more about Assembly Day and how to participate here. For more information, contact Lindsay Rowan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Senior Giving Tree: Spread joy to local seniors by donating a gift this season. The Danville Senior Center is collecting new games, books, and puzzles for adults, no more than $25 value, to be distributed to Danville seniors. Wrap your gift and drop it off at the center (115 E. Prospect Ave.) or Town Offices (500 La Gonda Way) by December 8, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday–Thursday, and Friday 8:30 a.m. to noon. For more information, contact email@example.com.
Toys for Tots Drive & Fill the Cruiser Events: The Danville Police Department is supporting the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program with an ongoing toy drive and two Fill the Cruiser events. Through December 15, drop off a new, unwrapped toy for children up to age 12 in the Danville Police Department Lobby (500 La Gonda Way) between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday–Thursday and Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be two Fill the Cruiser events to make donating even easier. Danville Police will be at Marshall’s (3140 Fostoria Way) to collect toys from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on December 8 and 15. For more information, contact Lindsay Ortiz at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition to giving opportunities, the Town offers upcoming events for that all ages to experience joy this season, including:
- November 27-December 8: Send a letter to the North Pole with Santa’s Mailbox
- December 7: Holiday games and prizes for ages 8-12 at the Holiday Hangout
- December 8: Holiday crafts and a photo with Santa for ages 1-9 at the Elf Workshop
- December 12: Adults age 55 and older can enjoy a hot meal with good company at the Senior Center Holiday Brunch
