As the school year wraps up, a number of construction activities will be taking place along Diablo Road that we would like to make the community aware of:
- Eucalyptus Tree Removal UPDATE: The Town has received re-authorization from California Department of Fish & Wildlife to proceed with tree removal along the south side of Diablo Road, between Alameda Diablo and Fairway Drive. Contractors are restarting work today, June 30, which will require partial lane closures. The project is expected to conclude in mid-July.
- Diablo Road Widening: The private developer of the Magee Preserve project will be widening the road in the westbound direction of Diablo Road at Green Valley Road in order to extend the westbound through lane by a couple of hundred feet. This improvement was part of the Town’s conditions for approval of the project permit, and is expected to start the first week of June. The objective is to conclude in early fall.
- State Park North Gate Closure: Mt. Diablo State Park has recently announced its closure of North Gate Road and have re-directed all bicycle and vehicular traffic to the South Gate Road access point. Given the construction planned on Diablo Road this summer, we recommend taking the detour route as shown on the attached map.
We have created a detour map with suggested alternate routes, as construction may require traffic stops and/or one-way traffic patterns. Drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians may want to avoid the construction areas if possible. If you do travel through the project areas, please use caution and be prepared to stop for traffic control signage and personnel.
