Danville Village Theatre Launches A Classical Music Corner Series

New quarterly music series will feature esteemed classical music guests

The Village Theatre & Art Gallery is pleased to launch a new series titled, Classical Music Corner. This new quarterly series will feature esteemed classical musical guests from solo performers to ensembles. The first concert, Capriccio Baroque, will feature acclaimed, Grammy-nominated harpsichordist Jory Vinikour on Friday, November 5, at 7:00 p.m.

Recognized as one of the outstanding harpsichordists of his generation, Jory Vinikour has cultivated a highly diversified career that takes him to the world’s most important festivals, concert halls, and opera houses as recitalist and concerto soloist, partner to many of today’s finest instrumental and vocal artists, and conductor.

His recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, released on Delos International in 2001, received excellent reviews throughout the world. John von Rhein of the Chicago Tribune named it as one of 2001’s Top Ten Classical CDs. His Complete Harpsichord Works of Jean-Philippe Rameau recording was nominated for a 2012 GRAMMY® award in the category of Best Classical Solo Instrumental Recording.

The concert will feature harpsichord pieces by J.S. Bach, Domenico Scarlatti, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Louis Couperin, William Byrd, and John Bull.
