Town Talks with the Mayor
Danville’s culinary scene adapts to challenges of the pandemic

In the May 7, 2021 installment of the Town Talks Livestream program, Mayor Renee Morgan discusses how the pandemic altered Danville’s culinary epicenter.  Town Talks is a program held on the first Friday of each month via the Zoom app. Mayor Morgan invites guests and discusses a variety of topics of interest to Danville residents.

In the May 7 episode, the Mayor will be joined by Town Economic Development Manager, Jill Bergman, and local restaurant owners from The Vine and Spirits, Pete’s Brass Rail, Danville Harvest and The Peasant & The Pear to dive deep into pandemic impacts, uncover how these renowned restaurants weathered the storm and their plans for moving forward. Conversations will focus on:

  • Health orders and the challenges of various business and patron’s non-compliance
  • Impacts to businesses during closures, partial reopening and plans for moving forward
  • Steps taken to pivot business models to compete, local and federal support received, and how the lessons learned fuel their fire to rebuild even stronger in our community.

“Our businesses are the heart and soul of our community,” said Mayor Morgan. “Danville restaurants are truly unique as so many are independently owned. We are truly proud of how so many businesses shifted their models to compete during this challenging past year. Our goal has been and will continue to be focused on how we can support our businesses through the pandemic and beyond.”
