[ARCHIVED] New Online Exhibit Begins Jan 14

Village Theatre Art Gallery’s First Exhibition of 2021: TRACES

Gallery partners with WEAD group for new virtual exhibition

With the start of a new year comes with it a new, thought-provoking virtual exhibition, called TRACES, at the Town of Danville’s Village Theatre Art Gallery.

Beginning January 14, 2021, the gallery will partner with the international group, Women Eco Artists Dialog (WEAD), for a virtual exhibition featuring the artistic talents of members of WEAD who reside in the western states of the US.

WEAD is a pioneering network of feminist eco-artists, educators, curators, and writers working toward the goal of a just and healthy world. Member artists focus on women’s unique perspective in ecological and social justice art.

For this exhibition, artists were invited to exhibit artwork that could portray their interpretation of the idea of TRACES: the traces that humans leave long after they are gone. From art to architecture, plastic to nuclear waste, humans always leave behind some proof of existence. For this exhibition, tracing the lineage of women and the impact they have made on the world served as the inspiration to the women showing their work in this exhibit.

TRACES runs from January 14 - March 12, 2021.  The exhibit will be online only as the Village Theatre Art Gallery remains closed in accordance with Contra Costa County Health Orders.
