[ARCHIVED] Pair Detained Following Police Pursuit

Pair Detained After Police Pursuit

Individuals sought on thefts in San Ramon

Two individuals were detained following a pursuit by Danville Police Thursday morning. According to Chief Allan Shields, the incident began at approximately 10:36 a.m. when officers received a broadcast to be on the lookout for a black Lexus in connection with thefts from vehicles in San Ramon. Officers spotted the Lexus at 10:42 a.m. near the intersection of Danville Boulevard and El Portal. The vehicle fled north on Danville Boulevard. Officers initiated a pursuit but called off the pursuit as the Lexus headed through Alamo.

Less than a minute after calling off the pursuit, officers spotted the suspect car. It had collided with two other vehicles that had been driving on Danville Boulevard and had come to rest on its roof.

The two suspects in the vehicle were detained with the assistance of deputies from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff. The suspects are identified as:

Michael Gutierrez, 36, Union City
Carolina McDaniel, 31, Hayward

Gutierrez was arrested for felony evading with a vehicle, felony hit and run, and felony probation violation. He was injured in the accident and will be booked into the Martinez Detention Facility following treatment. McDaniel was detained by Danville Police and released to the San Ramon Police Department.

A driver in one of the vehicles struck was injured in the crash and was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
