[ARCHIVED] World Music Series Continues with 'A Night in Spain'

Come Spend “A Night In Spain”
World Music series continues at Village Theatre

Earlier this year, the Village Theatre gave the community a feel for the music of Portugal, and now this globetrotting music series is headed to Spain for a night of Flamenco music and dance presented by Matiz Flamenco.

Come to the Village Theatre, 233 Front Street, on Thursday, November 7, 2019 and experience the energy and passion of Matiz Flamenco, a Bay Area organization dedicated to producing authentic and accessible Flamenco Shows. The group’s goal is to develop a stronger community for Flamenco music and dance and to educate future performers about the art form.

Flamenco is a collaborative art form with music and dance from Spain.  This constantly evolving style has gone through many changes and refinements over the years. Flamenco was declared as one of the masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2010.

Matiz Flamenco has performed at a variety of events throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, including Le Bateau Ivre, The Carlisle, Milpitas Community Center, and La Pena Cultural Center.

A Night in Spain features the talents of singer/dancer, Yuli Sayuri (the director of Matiz Flamenco), singer/dancer Melina Berkov-Rojas, Guitarist Gopal Slavonic, and guitarist/dancer Roberto Aguilar.

Show time is 7:30 p.m. on November 7, 2019 at the Village Theatre & Art Gallery, 233 Front St.

Ticket prices are $30, $15 for students with a valid ID.  Tickets can be purchased online at www.danville.ca.gov/villagetheatre, by phone at (925) 314-3400, or at the Village Theatre Box Office, which is open Wednesday through Friday from 12 pm-5pm.
