Community Invited to Shop Local, Explore Downtown, and Experience Danville’s Historic Charm

The Town of Danville is proud to announce its upcoming celebration of Small Business Saturday on November 29, a day dedicated to supporting the independent retailers, restaurants, and service providers that make our community thrive. This year’s event carries special significance, as Danville has officially been designated a California Main Street and Main Street America affiliate community.

The California Main Street and Main Street America programs recognize communities whose downtowns show exceptional potential as a vibrant, unique, and economically vital destination. This designation affirms Danville’s commitment to preserving its historic character while fostering a strong, modern business environment.

“The Main Street designations recognize not only the Town’s investment in our local businesses, but the dedication of our business owners to our community, said Mayor Renee Morgan. “Small Business Saturday is a wonderful invitation to visit our downtown, discover the creativity and care behind our local shops and services, and support the small businesses that strengthen our local economy.

In Danville, small businesses are more than storefronts—they are woven into the fabric of the Town. They create local jobs, sponsor youth sports teams, and help maintain the welcoming charm that makes Danville a special place to call home. Every time residents and visitors choose to shop, dine, or explore locally, they are not only finding the perfect gift or enjoying a great meal—they’re strengthening the local economy and keeping Danville’s small-town character alive and thriving.

On Small Business Saturday, the Town will host live holiday music at Prospect Park Plaza from 1 to 3 p.m., creating a festive backdrop for an afternoon of shopping and dining. Downtown shops and restaurants will offer specials on unique gifts, seasonal menus, and holiday treats. Visitors can explore boutiques, art, jewelry, home décor, and more — all with free parking on public streets and in municipal parking lots.

Families can add extra fun to their shopping day with the Auggie the Elf Holiday Hunt, which runs through January 4. Kids are invited to help “find” Auggie hiding in participating businesses around town while parents browse for holiday gifts. The hunt offers a playful way to keep children engaged and excited about visiting local shops.

To make Small Business Saturday even more memorable, the Town encourages visitors to explore downtown using Discover Danville, the free interactive walking-tour app that highlights local businesses, hidden gems, and the history that makes Danville unique. Whether you’re a longtime resident or just getting to know the area, Discover Danville offers a fun and easy way to navigate shops, dining spots, and historical points of interest. Shoppers are encouraged to use the Discover Danville mobile app to:

  • Find the best local deals and Small Business Saturday specials
  • Vote for their favorite decorated storefronts
  • Track participating locations in the Auggie the Elf Holiday Hunt

With the excitement of Small Business Saturday—and the pride of the California Main Street designation—this year marks a significant moment for the Town and its business community. Residents and visitors alike are invited to join the celebration by supporting local merchants and experiencing the charm and character that set Danville apart.
