[ARCHIVED] Traffic Advisory: Work Scheduled Along Diablo Road Beginning October 20

Traffic Advisory (9)

The Town of Danville will conduct utility location testing, otherwise known as potholing, along a segment of Diablo Road starting Monday, October 20, as part of early preparations for an upcoming capital improvement project. Crews will be active and traffic will be limited to one way at a time Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Motorists should expect periodic traffic delays in the area for at least four days.

Work has been scheduled to avoid conflicts with commute times, and traffic controls will occur along Diablo Road between Fairway Drive and approximately 400 feet west of Avenida Nueva. Flaggers and signs will help direct vehicles safely through the work zone.

This potholing activity precedes the Diablo Road Pedestrian Trail and Drainage Improvements Project (CIP No. C-055), which will construct the final 0.9 mile section of a 2.1-mile, 8-foot-wide paved Class 1 multi-use trail along the southern shoulder of Diablo Road, improving connections between Green Valley Road and Blackhawk Road and expanding access to Mount Diablo State Park. Full construction is expected to begin later this fall and continue through December 2026, with work paused from November through March during the rainy season.

Drivers are encouraged to plan for additional travel time or use alternate routes when possible. Changeable message boards will be posted 72 hours in advance to notify the public of scheduled work. For questions or more information, contact Development Services at devserv@danville.ca.gov or (925) 314-3310 or visit the project page at danvilletowntalks.org/diablotrail.
