[ARCHIVED] Help Danville Pick the Next Book-Inspired Art Installation

Book Bench Challenge

Town invites community to vote by August 6 in the Book Bench Challenge

The Town of Danville is calling on readers of all ages to take part in a creative community initiative: the Book Bench Challenge. In partnership with the Danville Library, the Town is installing a new book bench, and the community gets to choose which beloved story will inspire its design.

Voting is open now through August 6, and everyone is encouraged to participate. The winning book will guide the artist in transforming the blank bench into a literary-themed public art piece, celebrating the power of stories and imagination.

The community is invited to vote online from a list of favorites spanning ages and interests:

  • Percy Jackson and the Olympians
  • Where the Wild Things Are
  • The Hobbit
  • The Very Hungry Caterpillar
  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
  • The Odyssey
  • Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus
  • The Little Prince
