Concerts, Plays, and Movies Sure to Entertain the Whole Family
The Town of Danville is celebrating the summer season with the return of their annual entertainment lineup. Beginning June 14, the community can attend family-friendly movie screenings, concerts, and plays held throughout June, July, and August at Danville parks and theatre. Enjoy outdoor movie nights with Moonlight Movies, groove to live music at Music in the Park and Kidchella, or enjoy classic comedic tales during Shakespeare & Performing Arts Regional Company’s (SPARC) rendition of Twelfth Night at the Village Theatre. Danville is coasting into summer with a wave of entertainment options that promise fun for the whole family.
Moonlight Movies:
The free Moonlight Movies series returns Friday, June 14 at the Town Green. These Friday evenings will start at 6 p.m. with games and activities for families to enjoy followed by a movie when the sun goes down. The 2024 Moonlight Movies schedule is:
- Friday, June 14: Aquaman (2018, PG-13)
- Friday, June 28: Aladdin (Live Action; 2019, PG)
- Friday, July 12: Angels in the Outfield (1994, PG)
- Friday, July 26: Super Mario Bros (2023, PG)
Music in the Park:
The free Music in the Park series returns Saturday, June 22 and ends on August 3. Concerts will start at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m., with a 20-minute intermission. The first three concerts will be at Oak Hill Park, with a rotating selection of food trucks. The final concert will be on the Town Green, and visitors are encouraged to pick up dinner from Downtown Danville restaurants. The 2024 Music in the Park schedule is:

- Saturday, July 6: Jackson Michelson (Country)

Kidchella:
In partnership with the Danville Library, Kidchella is a free concert series for families with kids ages 0 to 11. These events start with reading time at 11:15 a.m. followed by a music performance at Noon on the Town Green and arts and crafts after the concert. The Kidchella schedule is:
- Wednesday, June 26: The Banana Slug String Band
- Wednesday, July 17: Asheba
Moonlight Movies, Music in the Park, and Kidchella are all free events that are open to the public and do not require any pre-registration to attend. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests should bring portable outdoor chairs and blankets; layered clothing is recommended for evening events.
Twelfth Night Production by SPARC:
This summer, see Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night at the Village Theatre, presented by Shakespeare & Performing Arts Regional Company’s (SPARC). Widely considered to be Shakespeare’s best romantic comedy, Twelfth Night is a humorous concoction of mistaken identities, twin siblings, love triangles, and the journey of lost souls finding love. The performance is appropriate for adults and kids age 12 and older. Performance dates are:

- Saturday, August 10 at 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, August 11 at 2:00 p.m.
- Friday, August 16 at 7:30 p.m.
