Annual remembrance at Oak Hill Park and Mt. Diablo beacon lighting at Veterans Memorial Building honor fallen servicemembers.

The Town of Danville is proud to support local military veterans and their families this Memorial Day as groups organize remembrance events honoring those who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Events are scheduled at two Town facilities on Monday, May 27, and the Town Offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.

The Viet Nam Veterans of Diablo Valley will hold their Annual Memorial Day Remembrance at Oak Hill Park. The public event will take place at the All Wars Memorial in the park. There will be live music starting at 10 a.m. with the program scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. This year’s speaker will be Bill Green. Oak Hill Park is located at 3005 Stone Valley Rd. in Danville.

In the evening, the community is invited to join the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 75 and other local veterans organizations at the Veterans Memorial Building in Danville to light the Mount Diablo Beacon. At 8 p.m., the groups will gather at the flagpole in front of the building along with Mayor Karen Stepper to press a remote button that will light the aviation beacon on the Mount Diablo summit. The Veterans Memorial Building will be open May 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. for visitors to view the historic photos and memorabilia inside. The Veterans Memorial Building is located at 400 Hartz Ave. in Danville.
