Sidewalk Stroll, new art exhibition, EarthFest and more this spring.
Spring is here, and the Town of Danville has some creative ways to celebrate Earth month. There's something for everyone, whether you want to enjoy the splendor of nature with a celebration, discover a new hobby or peruse the gallery’s new exhibition reflecting Earth’s wonders in watercolor.
Rain is still in the forecast, so take a refreshing walk and look for rainbows overhead on the Sidewalk Stroll: A Rainworks Project. There are secret messages hidden on sidewalks at 10 locations around Downtown Danville, created with an eco-friendly temporary spray. The artwork will appear on sidewalks when it rains, and the theme will be revealed as visitors see each design. Visitors can pick up a passport map at the Village Theatre & Art Gallery, Danville Community Center, Danville Senior Center, or download one at www.danville.ca.gov/arts. Completed passports can be turned in for a prize and raffle entry.
California has many beautiful and meaningful places to inspire art, and some of the most beautiful places on Earth are reflected in the next Village Theatre Art Gallery exhibition, California, Places & People April 20-June 21. Thirty seven artists from the California Watercolor Association have selected paintings of favorite places they have visited in California or people they have seen here. The opening reception is Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to noon, and is free and open to the public. For more information, including gallery hours, visit www.danville.ca.gov/arts.
