Seeking volunteer coaches and players for official NFL Flag organization for 3rd to 8th grade girls.
The Town of Danville is proud to team up with NFL Flag to present the Town’s first all girls flag football league. This league is operated by Town staff with volunteer coaches, and provides a place for girls to learn the sport and develop skills to bring with them into high school play. NFL Flag is the largest youth flag football organization in the U.S., and the official flag football program of the NFL.
The Town and NFL Flag are dedicated to creating more opportunities for female athletes to participate in youth sports and learn this growing sport. This league is beginner-based as many have not played flag football before. Each player will receive an NFL team-based jersey included in the league fee. This league will consist of 45 minute games on Sundays with practice one hour before game time. Games and practices will take place at Osage Station Park April 14 through June 9 (eight Sunday games; no game/practice May 26).
This league will be coached by volunteer coaches, and the Town is seeking positive, committed, and friendly volunteers to coach youth teams for 3rd-8th grade. Coaches must obtain a mandated reporter training certificate for the current year and a fingerprinted background test before the first practice/game. A $40 credit will be given to each parent/resident who volunteers as a coach and completes the training and coaches the entire season.
Player registration is by grade, and available online at www.danville.ca.gov/recguide. Information on volunteer coaching is available at www.danville.ca.gov/youthsports.
