[ARCHIVED] Movie is the Endcap of Abstract Exhibition

Social Media Beyond the Visible

Celebrate the close of the winter exhibition with a film screening March 22.

The Town of Danville will show Beyond the Visible, a movie about abstract artist Hilma af Klint, in conjunction with the closing of the current exhibition, Driven to Abstraction. The exhibition closes on Friday, March 22, and the film screening will begin at 5 p.m. that day.

Beyond the Visible tells the story of abstract artist Hilma af Klint including her life and craft as well as her mischaracterization. Hilma af Klint was an abstract artist before the term existed, introducing her visionary works beginning in 1906. She has since been rediscovered, including this documentary. Tickets for the film screening at the Village Theatre are available at www.danville.ca.gov/tickets and are $5 each. Admission to the gallery is free.

The artists of Driven to Abstraction are unified in their commitment to art and believe that creating new work is essential to their well-being. Their abstract art reflects their own different perspectives and experiences, in addition to varying techniques and styles. Learn more about the exhibition at www.danville.ca.gov/arts.

The Village Theatre & Art Gallery is at 233 Front St. in Danville. For additional information, contact John Dunn at 925-314-3418 or jdunn@danville.ca.gov.
