National Parks and Recreation Month

Recognizing the positive impact of recreation, green spaces, and community programming 

The Town of Danville is proud to celebrate July as Parks and Recreation Month, aligning with both a federal designation and a statewide initiative highlighting the vital role parks and recreation play in building stronger, healthier, and more connected communities. The Town Council proclaimed July as Parks and Recreation Month at its July 1 meeting. 

Throughout the month, the Town invites residents to take full advantage of beautiful Danville parks, vibrant recreation programs, and community services that enhance quality of life for all ages. With several parks, miles of scenic trails, engaging summer camps, cultural arts programs, and special events, Danville offers something for everyone to enjoy. July events include:  

  • July 5 at 6 p.m. - Music in the Park: George Ducas  
  • July 11 at 4 p.m. - Music at the Plaza: Mio Flores SalSazz AllStars 
  • July 11 at 6:30 p.m. - Moonlight Movies: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024, PG) 
  • July 12 at 4 p.m. - Music at the Plaza: Jenny Madrigal 
  • July 12 at 5 p.m. - Art in Miniature Exhibition Opening Reception 
  • July 16 at 11:15 a.m. - Kidchella: Octopreztel 
  • July 19 at 6 p.m. - Music in the Park: Arcana Kings 
  • July 25 at 6:30 p.m. - Moonlight Movies: Indiana Jones & the Dial of Destiny (2023, PG-13) 
  • July 26 at 4 p.m. - Music at the Plaza: Meredith McHenry 

The Town will be sharing stories, photos, and behind-the-scenes highlights on social media throughout July to showcase the positive impact of local parks and the dedicated staff who maintain and program them. 

Residents are encouraged to share how Danville parks and recreation services make their lives better by tagging @DanvilleCAgov and using the hashtag #ParksMakeLifeBetter.
