[ARCHIVED] New Web-Based Walking Tour Helps Visitors ‘Discover Danville’

Social Media Discover Danville

Explore restaurants, shops, historic landmarks, and more while creating your own walking tour.

The new Discover Danville walking tour app is now available to help visitors explore Danville. This recently developed interactive tool provides a unique way to incorporate hidden gems into a walking tour, including historic landmarks,  charming local shops and delightful restaurants. The web-based app offers location-based pinpoint locations for Downtown Danville and beyond.

By guiding users through local retail and dining spots, Discover Danville promotes increased foot traffic to small businesses, supporting local entrepreneurs and helping sustain the Town's unique charm. The app also features historical context, allowing users to view photos of "what used to be" while walking through Downtown Danville.

“This app idea started with our Historic Resource Commission, looking for ways to put people in touch with the Town’s 170-year history,” said Jenn Starnes, Communications and Economic Development Manager for the Town of Danville. “We thought it would also be fun to look around at the businesses here now, and discover that the charming chocolate shop you’re in is next to the early 1900s home of the Town’s first dentist.”

It’s easy to get started—simply visit www.danville.ca.gov/DiscoverDanville on a mobile device to access the free, web-based app; no downloads or logins required. Whether holiday shopping, entertaining guests, or just exploring for fun, this app is the perfect companion for discovering and supporting Danville’s wonderful community.
