Danville Press Release
Lighting of the Old Oak Tree to Be Virtual
44th Annual event to be held online due to COVID restrictions
One of the most popular holiday events in Danville, the annual Lighting of the Old Oak Tree will be online this year and will not be a live community event.
The Town of Danville and the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce will have a video Lighting of the Old Oak Tree available for viewing online to keep this tradition amidst the current restrictions against large gatherings.
The video will feature addresses by Mayor Karen Stepper and Chamber Chairman of the Board Patricia Burgess, songs by the Danville Girls Choir, and photos of previous year’s Tree Lightings. The community will be able to view the virtual event online beginning at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2020 on both the Town of Danville’s website www.danville.ca.gov/LOOT and the Chamber of Commerce’s Facebook Page.
After Wednesday evening, the Oak Tree will be lit for the season. The community is encouraged to enjoy the lights when coming down to shop, dine and pledge to support Danville businesses on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday following Thanksgiving. #pledgedanville
