Designs for the new public art program appear on Downtown sidewalks when it rains.
The Town of Danville has launched a new public art project perfect for the coming storms. Sidewalk Stroll: A Rainworks Project features themed designs that appear on Downtown sidewalks when it rains. The artwork will appear at 10 locations, and the theme will be revealed as visitors see each design.
Using special water-resistant spray, the Town’s cultural arts team placed messages on sidewalks around Downtown Danville. Visitors can pick up a passport map at the Village Theatre & Art Gallery, Danville Community Center, Danville Senior Center, or download one at www.danville.ca.gov/arts. The passport allows visitors to participate in a scavenger hunt to find the designs and guess the theme. All participants who complete and turn in their passport card will receive an Auggie the Acorn coloring book, and all who answer the bonus question on the passport will be entered in a raffle.
Completed passports can be dropped off at the Danville Community Center, Danville Senior Center and Village Theatre & Art Gallery between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday. For more information, contact the Danville Community Center at 925-314-3400 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
