CHP Start Smart Driver Education for Teens & Parents

SRVHS Theater

Most teens dream of one day driving their own car and receiving their driver’s license. To many, a driver’s license represents greater autonomy and a major step towards growing up. Having a driver’s license is a wonderful feeling, however, with this privilege comes great responsibility to protect oneself and those around you. In fact, the first 1 to 2 years of licensure are some of the most dangerous years for teens. Did you know that teen drivers are four times more likely to get in a collision than an experienced driver?

Given the startling statistics related to teen driver safety, the California Highway Patrol (CHP), in partnership with the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD) will be providing teen driver education classes at various locations in Danville and San Ramon between August 2018 and April 2019. These free two-hour traffic safety classes are designed for drivers (and soon-to-be drivers), aged 15-19 years old, and their parents/legal guardians. This highly impactful class covers the laws, obligations, responsibilities, and family expectations that are part of operating a motor vehicle. While these classes are specifically for SRVUSD students, all California students/parents are welcome to register and attend.
