High winds and downed power lines are causing perilous conditions and a widespread power outage in Danville. PG&E reported the power outage at 11:17 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, and as of 4 p.m. were still assessing the outage to determine the cause and restoration timeline. For updates on local outages, visit the PG&E Outage Center at http://pge.com/outage.
Downed power lines have been reported on:
• Green Valley Road between Blemer Road and Valle Verde Court
• Camino Tassajara between Old Valley Road and Sycamore Valley Drive
The areas are partially or fully closed, and PG&E is either on route or on site to assess. Please avoid driving near these locations. Town programs for the evening of March 14 are cancelled. The Planning Commission at the Town Meeting Hall is cancelled, as are Town classes and activities at Danville Community Center, Senior Center, Oak Hill Park, and Hap Magee Ranch Park. The Teen Centers are open until 5:30 p.m. Most Danville businesses are also closed due to the power outage.
The National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning through 11 p.m. March 14. Please stay inside if possible, and if you do have to go outside, take precautions:
- Report downed power lines to PG&E at 800-743-5000.
- Avoid touching downed power lines, and do not attempt to drive or walk over power lines.
- If signal lights are out, treat intersections as a four-way stop: each driver goes in turn, starting with the car that arrived first.
- If driving, take extra care to watch for pedestrians as well as potential wind-driven hazards.
- Report fallen trees by calling 925-314-3450 during business hours, or after-hours at 925-820-2144.
