Artists Sought for Tri-Valley Public Art Exhibit - Picture This

Artists Sought for Picture This
Submissions being taken for Tri-Valley public art exhibit

Tri-Valley cities are currently seeking local artists, age 18 and up, who reside within the nine Bay Area Counties, who wish to bring their unique designs and artistic talents to their hometowns! This summer, 6 ft frames will be on display in various locations throughout the Tri-Valley as part of a regional public art exhibit, Picture This.

These one-of-kind frames will reside in local parks, libraries, downtowns and iconic locations within the Tri-Valley. Each frame will stand 6 ft tall, have a 4ft by 3ft opening and a 5-inch border as a canvas.

For this exhibit, cities are seeking colorful, creative and unique submissions based on what the Tri-Valley has to offer. Artists are encouraged to think of themes that represent the Tri-Valley and the opportunities it presents. Artists who wish to participate will submit colored sketches of their designs. Each artist or “art team” can provide up to three entries. The deadline for artist submissions is Friday, May 27, by 1:00 p.m. Visit https://tinyurl.com/picturethisartists to apply.

Artists will be selected by a panel comprised of city/town staff and one representative from each city/town Arts Commission (Committee or Board). Selected artists will receive a $300 stipend for their time and materials upon completion of their frame.  A clear coat of graffiti varnish will be supplied to the artist to ensure their design is protected. Artists will be notified of acceptance by Friday, June 10, at 5:00 p.m.

Picture This will be on view from July 16 to September 30, 2022. For more information, contact Recreation Superintendent Jessica Wallner at (925) 314-3426 or jwallner@danville.ca.gov
