Convergence: The Intersection of Wax, Color & Design
The Town of Danville’s Village Theatre Art Gallery is pleased to present a new art exhibition featuring a collection of encaustic paintings by established Bay Area artists.
Encaustic painting, coming from the Latin word ‘Encastiko,’ encaustic means ‘to burn in’ or ‘to fuse together’ is a special form of art, different from traditional painting methods which employ paintbrush and oil or acrylic paint. Instead, the artist who creates encaustic artwork is employing heat as a method to fuse together pure color pigment with beeswax to produce a one of a kind, unique work of art that presents as sometimes smooth and sometimes ridgy, and always inviting as the multiple layers draw the viewer in.
Exhibit dates are March 25, 2023 - May 26, 2023, with an artists' opening reception on Saturday, March 25 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the Village Theatre and Art Gallery located at 233 Front Street in Danville, CA. Complimentary refreshments will be served and as always there is no admission cost to attend, and donations are always appreciated, open to the public. The artists featured in the exhibit will be present to discuss their artwork. All artwork in this exhibit will be available for purchase.
