Music in the Park kicks off with "Department of Rock"

Music in the ParkBring your blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets out to Oak Hill Park and enjoy music spanning three decades.  The Town of Danville opened their annual Music in the Park concerts with rock cover band Department of Rock on July 14.

Department of Rock’s witty and somewhat eccentric mission is to protect and defend the nation from sub-standard rock and roll. And they got the concert season off to a great start.

The Department of Rock and its agents have performed, recorded, and worked with a great assortment of national and international producers, recording artists, and pro-audio companies in the world, including Aerosmith, Journey, Tesla, Led Zeppelin, Scorpions, Metallica and Linkin Park.

The July event is the first of four easy-listening, fist-bumping and happy-dancing concerts scheduled to be held at Oak Hill Park on Saturdays from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. throughout the summer.

Music in the Park began 27 years ago with just a handful of people in attendance, and has grown over the years to a thriving event with thousands coming out to enjoy dinner and dancing beneath the blue Danville skies.

There are still three more great concerts scheduled this season, so come out and enjoy fantastic music. Don’t forget to bring a blanket and lawn chairs.
