After over a year and a half and countless hours of effort, the Veterans Memorial Building reconstruction project is entering its final stages. Crews are busily preparing electrical installations, finishing up flooring and drywall and in general getting the building ready to open sometime in late April or early May.
Begun in July 2010, the ambitious $8.1 million project has completely renovated the Hartz Avenue side of the venerable structure, and also added on an amazing space at the rear, with an entrance for seniors and the community on Prospect Ave.
The project will double the space of the building to 12,000 square feet and provide space for area veterans as well as the Town's senior programs. Members of the community will be able to rent the facility for weddings and other activities as well.
Several photos from the previous two months work have been uploaded to the Town's Flickr account. Click here to see the new photos.
