Branching Out: A reflection on Art and Nature

Branching Out2

As with the turning of the seasons, so too does a new exhibit begin at the Village Theatre Art Gallery.  The next show, which begins March 1, 2012 and runs through April 13, 2012 deals with nature and the artistic world.  "Branching Out" is the title of the newest exhibit, which will feature the art of Melissa Bolger, Linda Colnett, Elaine Coombs, Arthur Scott King, Lisa Lee, Melanie tormos, Pep Ventosa and Eric Zener.

Branching Out refers to the creative push an artist makes while staying grounded to their subject matter.  In this case, something as universally recognized and enjoyed as the natural world.

In this invitational exhibit, the artists work to bring their individual vision to the natural world. To showcase how each person's perception is subtly, and sometimes not so subtly, different.  Artist Eric Zener referred to nature as, "A metaphor for renewal and reprise."  Fellow artist Elaine Coombs agreed.  She said that when she needs to, "Regroup, breathe and return to center, it is the forest that can do this."

Besides the gallery exhibition itself, Branching Out will also feature other activities designed to enlighten and excite the audience and give them a better look behind the scenes of the artistic process.  Some of the activities include:
