Danville PD Investigates Fatal Crash 


Investigators with the Danville Police Department are continuing to piece together the events that led to a fatal car crash Monday afternoon at the intersection of Sycamore Valley Road and Brookside Dr.  

Lt. Jeff Moule said the incident occurred at 4:18 p.m. Monday.  A vehicle moving westbound on Sycamore Valley Road collided with a vehicle travelling southbound on Brookside Dr.  The westbound vehicle struck the driver’s side of the auto, killing the driver, Elham Pirdavari, 51, of Danville.  A passenger in the vehicle, Mahindokht Dowlati, 72, of Danville was critically injured in the crash. 

Pirdavari was pronounced dead at the scene by San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District emergency personnel. 

Life Flight medical helicopters were landed at the Park and Ride facility off of Sycamore Valley Road and transported the two injured individuals to area trauma centers.  The other driver, whose name is being withheld pending completion of the investigation, was taken to Eden Valley Medical Center in Castro Valley. Dowlati was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.  

Sycamore Valley Road was closed until after midnight, while officers conducted an on-scene investigation of the crash site.  Lt. Moule said no charges have been filed, pending the completion of the investigation.
