Hap Magee Ranch Dog Park Closed Through Friday

Maintenance to close dog parks after dog found to have virus

The Town of Danville has ordered the immediate closure of the Hap Magee Ranch Dog Park, the Canine Corral, after an animal that visited the park earlier this week was found to have contracted the canine Parvovirus.

An Alamo Veterinarian reported the case to the Town of Danville, which has since closed the dog park to begin procedures to reduce the risk of the virus being spread to other animals.  Measures being taken include sterilization of drinking areas, removal of any fecal matter at the park and a general clean-up.

Town of Danville Maintenance Services Manager Jed Johnson said the dog park will remain closed until Friday, November 4, 2011. It should re-open to the public by Saturday Nov. 5, 2011.
