Village Theatre Art Gallery to host "Art Chat"
The Village Theatre Art Gallery has become a destination in Danville for artistic enterprises of all shapes, sizes and textures. And the current exhibit Surfaces is no exception. Exhibit starts Nov. 10 and runs through December 15, 2011, Surfaces is an amazing exhibition of the work of Fiber Artists. Throughout the gallery there are many different selections from the California Fiber Arts Group (CFA).
CFA is a group of independent fiber artists who have joined their works together for exhibitions. Featuring two dimensional and three dimensional images, the exhibit demonstrates a wide variety of surface design art techniques and highlights the array of possibilities available to artists working in this medium. The artists alter the fiber with dye, paint, foil, threads, wire plastic and other items in order to develop their creative image.
Some of them layer and stitch, others stretch and paint, while still others sculpt and collage. It is an incredibly diverse medium.
Area residents are invited to come and learn more about this fascinating art form by attending the upcoming Art Chat. From 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on November 16, 2011, three of the featured artists will provide an in-depth look into their creative process and the journey they have undertaken in learning and mastering their art.
The evening will include slide presentations, sample work, brief demonstrations, a question and answer session and light refreshments. The three artists attending will be Nina Shortridge, Karin Lusnak and Sue Scott of the CFA. To learn more about the artists, go to www.cafiberartists.com.
While the event is free, registration is required. To register for the event, go to www.danvillerecguide.com. Search for barcode 24543.
