Danville residents are invited to come out and take part in a ceremony being held in remembrance of the 10th anniversary of 9-11.  The Exchange Club of San Ramon Valley, along with local veterans' organizations is hosting an event to be held at the All Wars Memorial at Oak Hill Park.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011.  Program will begin at 5:50pm and conclude at 6:40 p.m.  Guest speakers, including retired Rear Admiral Winston Copeland, will address the crowd.  In addition, the joint Police and Fire Department Honor Guard and Drum Corps, renowned tenor George Komsky and others will take part in the ceremony.

Afterwards, a picnic will be held for those in attendance featuring hot dogs and ice cream. 

As part of the 10th Anniversary an essay contest will be held for grade, middle and high school students in the San Ramon Valley.  Title of the essay is "9-11 Lessons for Future Generations."  Prizes will be awarded for the top three entries in each of the three categories.
