As part of their enforcement effort over the July 4 holiday weekend, extra officers from Danville Police Department were out on the roads, cracking down on impaired drivers.
In addition to normal patrolling, the DPD also participated in the Avoid the 25 Campaign saturation patrols. The patrols put extra officers on the street and resulted in several traffic stops.
According to statistics provided by the DPD, over the weekend there were two collissions caused by impaired driving, six arrests made for Driving Under the Influence, one drug-related arrest and one drunk in public arrest.
The saturation patrol concentrated on areas where traditionally there were higher incidents of drunk driving or collissions caused by impaired drivers.
