Stars and Stripes fly high in Danville
Town readies for annual July 4 Parade
One of the great traditions of Danville is the annual Kiwanis 4th of July parade. Each year, thousands of residents from throughout the San Ramon Valley come to downtown Danville to enjoy the bands, floats and excitement of the huge event.
With crowd estimates at 40,000 this year, the Town of Danville has made several preparations for the influx of people and how the parade will affect traffic around the downtown.
The Town wishes to remind residents of several issues:
Start time: This year's parade begins at 9:00 a.m. on Monday July 4, 2011.
Route Change: This year's parade route has changed slightly. The parade will end at Sycamore Valley Road West. From there, parade
participants will proceed west towards Sheri Lane. Spectators who normally set up south of the intersection of
San Ramon Valley Boulevard and Sycamore Valley Road should set up north of Sycamore Valley instead.
Accessibility: Each year many people 'reserve' their spot along the parade route by placing chairs and tape on the sidewalks on the
the evening of July 3, 2011. Residents are reminded that they may not set up prior to 6:00 p.m. and any chairs or other
items put on the sidewalks before 6:00 p.m. will be removed. Residents are also urged not to block the ramps at
intersections so that disabled residents may still use the sidewalk.
Parking: Residents are asked to arrive early, carpool when possible and use available parking. Parking can be found at:
Front Street Municipal Parking lots
Railroad Avenue Municipal Parking lots
Clocktower Parking Lot on Railroad Avenue
Park and Ride Lot on Sycamore Valley Road
Traffic: Through traffic can use the following surface streets:
Danville Boulevard from El Cerro Boulevard north
Del Amigo Road
Verona Road
San Ramon Valley Boulevard south of West Sycamore Valley Road
