Art Entries Sought for July Exhibit
"Elegant Line" to showcase the use of line in media
As part of the preparation for a new juried art exhibit at the Village Theatre Art Gallery, the Town of Danville is seeking submissions from area artists interested in participating in the new show, "The Elegant Line".
The use of line in media is considered to be an essential element in the practice of fine art. Lines can frame a subject, create depth, define a space or add texture to a piece. Use of line crosses all media and is found in innovative contemporary works as well as the iconic art of the Renaissance.
"The Elegant Line" show, scheduled from July 15 - August 26, 2011, will showcase the use of line in art. Media of all sorts will be represented, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and mixed media. The Town has put out a call for artists to submit their work for the show. Artists can submit a digital representation of their art, which will then be judged and those who have been accepted for the show will be notified by June 24, 2011.
Entry fee is $25. Artists will need to fill out an entry form, include the entry fee and a CD with up to three digital images of their entry. Images should be no larger than 1mb. A flyer with complete details on the entry procedure can be found here.
Deadline for entries is 5:00 p.m. June 10, 2011.
