A daylight robbery of a ring valued at $25,000 resulted in the arrests of four people involved in the crime.  Police were called to Smith Jewelers, 350 Railroad Avenue, at 2:38 p.m. Friday afternoon, on a report of a ring being stolen.

According to Police Chief Steve Simpkins, the victims had advertised the ring on Craigslist. They were contacted by an individual who said he wished to purchase the ring and arrangements were made to meet up at Smith Jewelers, where a gemologist would verify the value.

During the inspection, the suspect reportedly grabbed the ring, knocked down the seller and fled the store.  The fleeing suspect prompted a flurry of 911 calls and DPD officers converged on the scene.

At 2:46 p.m. a vehicle believed to belong to the suspects was pulled over by DPD Officer Vince Richards in the parking lot of the Denny’s restaurant on Camino Ramon. Two suspects, including the person believed to have stolen the ring, were arrested and taken into custody. The ring was recovered at that time.

As the investigation continued, two more suspects were located in the area and were arrested for participating in the robbery as the look outs.

Arrested were:

Danielle Williams, 24, of Oakland. Charged with Conspiracy and Grand Theft.
Clarence Andrews, 36, of Oakland. Charged with Conspiracy and Grand Theft.
Michael Martin, 37, of Tracy. Charged with Conspiracy, Grand Theft and Possession of stolen property.
Laray Peterson, 26, Tracy. Charged with Robbery, Possession of Stolen Property and Burglary.

The four were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
