Fifth Adventure of "Captain Cool" about to launch
Danville area youngsters with a taste for the bright lights of the theatre will have a chance to experience a show from audition through performance as part of the annual Town of Danville Theatre Performance Workshop. This after-school program, now in it's 8th year, is designed for youth ages 7-14 and provides them with the entire spectrum of theatrical experience.
Performers will audition for parts, rehearse and then perform their show at the Village Theatre, 233 Front Street. The program was conceived by Bay Area artist/actor Jeff Seaberg as a way to bring the arts to young people here in Danville. Each show is based on an original script.
This year the class will feature the fifth adventure for Captain Cool and the Righteous Dudes. The show will feature the venerable Captain and his crew of Dudes going underwater when creatures from the sea unite to make trouble.
As part of the program, each child will get the chance to audition, rehearse and perform. They will receive one on one guidance in this areas as well as other basic theatre skills. The class meets on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons until the final week of rehearsals, which involves some daytime and weekend participation.
Class begins on March 22 and runs through May 18, 2011, where it will culminate in five performances.
