Police investigating early morning fire on El Pintado
Equipment involved in marijuana growing found in destroyed home
An early morning fire at a Danville home has become the site of a police investigation, after machinery involved in the growing of marijuana was found in the wreckage.
Detective Sgt. Allan Shields said a fire was reported to the San Ramon Fire Protection District (SRVFPD) at 5:28a.m Friday morning. Danville Police units were dispatched to the scene initially to help with traffic control, but following the discovery of the equipment in the building, Detectives from the department’s Investigations Unit were called in.
Found in the wreckage of the home were grow lights, air conditioning units, fans and filtration units commonly associated with indoor marijuana growing operations.
Damage to the home was listed at $750,000. SRVFPD Arson Investigators are continuing to work to determine the specific cause and point of origin of the fire.
Shields said that the investigation will ultimately be turned over to the Central Narcotics Enforcement Team.
