Activities set for this weekend at Village Theatre

Theatre and art lovers of all ages will have plenty to see this weekend at the Village Theatre, 233 Front St.  The Town of Danville's Recreation Services Department, working to bring a wide array of artistic endeavours to Town has scheduled several different performances for the weekend of Dec. 10, 2010.

The weekend gets underway for the little ones with the latest in the Pre-School Performances Series.  Magician Phil Ackerly brings his unique humor and magic to the Village Theatre on Friday at 10:00 a.m.  The performance series is designed to introduce young children to the many faces of art.  Tickets for the event are $3.00

Friday evening, the older generation will get an opportunity to enjoy the fast-paced, thought provoking and just plain zaniness of the world of Improvisation, through the stylings of Improv Troupe Trapped in a Rumor.  TiR follows the basic concept of the T.V. show "Who's line is it anyway", where the audience provides the actors with characters and situations and then sits back to watch as the energetic performers bring the scene to life. The performance at the Village Theatre begins at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets for the show are $10.00

Then on Saturday Dec. 11, 2011, there is art and storytelling available for younger residents as author/illustrator David Carter shares his book, "One Red Dot."  From 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Carter will read from his book, talking to participants about the story and then leading the group in a simple holiday inspired pop-art activity.  The event is free but due to space limitations pre-registration is required.
