A long awaited reconstruction program slated to smooth out some of the bumps on I-680 through the Danville area may be moving forward. Members of the Department of Transportation recently awarded the contract for the I-680 project to Bay Cities Paving.

The work, which had been set to begin last month, will go from Rudgear Road to Alcosta Boulevard to the south. Repairs and resurfacing will be done to the roadway, as well as several ramps off the freeway.

The original end date for the project was set for late 2012, but that may be pushed back due to the delay in starting the multi-million dollar reconstruction.
