Danville man arrested for pipe bombs
Verbal disturbance ends with man's arrest
On Sunday September 19, 2010, the Danville Police Department responded to a report of a verbal disturbance in the 200 block of Amigo Road. Upon arrival the officers learned that the argument was in regards to a man identified as Eric Dennis, 36, of Danville, reportedly possessing several pipe bombs.
Further investigation by officers revealed that Dennis was in possession of three homemade pipe bombs and a small amount of materials that could be used to make more pipe bombs. Dennis was arrested and charged with Possession of a Destructive Device and Possession of the Materials to Make a Destructive Device. He was transported to the Martinez Detention Center, where is he is being held on $650,000 bond.
The Walnut Creek Police Department Bomb Squad responded to assist with the disposition of the existing bombs as well as the removal of the materials. Surrounding neighbors were briefly evacuated while the Bomb Squad detonated the pipe bombs on scene.
