Emergency Preparedness Fair helps residents be ready
Annual event educates on how to prepare for, endure and survive a disaster
Residents from throughout the area are invited to come to Danville on Sept. 11 to learn more about what your state, county and local governments are doing to prepare for a natural disaster, and how residents themselves can be ready to deal with an emergency. The annual Emergency Preparedness Fair will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the LDS Chapel at 655 Old Orchard Rd.
Co-Sponsored by the Town of Danville, City of San Ramon, San Ramon Valley Unified School District San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District, San Ramon Valley Regional Medical Center and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint, the event will give area agencies an opportunity to showcase their resources. Some of the programs to be held during the Fair include:
* A demonstration by the Walnut Creek Bomb Squad
* A demonstration of the Jaws of Life by the SRVFire Protection District
* A decontamination demonstration by the SRV Fire Protection District
* A demonstration by the San Ramon Police K-9 Team
* Emergency Preparedness classes
* Mobile Pet Micro-chipping
* Information on CPR and AEDs
This family friendly event will also provide car seat inspections, help residents create their own earthquake kits, simulate the effects of an earthquake and teach the proper use of a fire extinguisher.
The first 200 families who arrive after 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. who complete the Preparedness Bingo Game will receive a free emergency kit. In addition, a free Tri-Tip lunch will be served.
