With the late summer heat wave hitting the San Ramon Valley, Danville Emergency Services Manager Greg Gilbert is cautioning residents to take extra care in dealing with the high temperatures. The forecast for Tuesday calls for temperatures to top out at 106 degrees.
Gilbert said that following some very simple tips can help keep residents safe when the weather turns to extreme heat.
* Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water.
* Dress appropriately in cool, lightweight clothing
* Seek shade when outdoors for a prolonged period
* Wear sunscreen and a hat when outdoors
For persons who do not have air conditioning, Gilbert suggests going to a location that has air conditioning such as the movies or the library. The Danville Public Library's hours are 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Another way to beat the heat would be to play in the water features at four Danville parks. The parks are Hap Magee Ranch, Sycamore Valley, Diablo Vista and Oak Hill Parks.
