Danville Police are conducting an investigation into a late Sunday accident that claimed the life of a 19 year-old Alamo resident. Police Chief Steve Simpkins said the incident occurred shortly before midnight at the intersection of Del Amigo Road and Glen Road.

9-1-1 dispatchers were called at 11:47 p.m. with a report of a person injured by an automobile. On arrival, police and fire officials found the victim unconscious.  He was pronounced dead a short time later at the scene.

Witnesses told police that a group of teens were standing near the intersection when another group of teens arrived in a white Toyota Sequoia. When the vehicle pulled away, the youth jumped onto the moving vehicle.  After about 75 yards he fell from the vehicle and suffered severe injuries.

Police are interviewing neighbors and those who were at the scene as the investigation continues. Simpkins said the driver tested negative for alcohol, and they are awaiting toxicology reports on the victim.

Persons with information regarding the accident should contact the Danville Police Department at 314-3700.
