  • ARTful women card

The ARTful Women are seven foothill artists whose primary medium is fabric, along with other materials. Our hope is to increase awareness about fabric as a legitimate and fine art medium. As a group, we push ourselves and each other to expand our creative limits -- and keep our batteries charged. We come together with a goal of one or two group shows each year.

The pieces created by ARTful Women are unique -- minimally or multi layered, stitched, painted, dyed, stamped, or embellished in a myriad of ways. In color, they are subtle or bright; our subjects are literal or abstract, each an expression of our diverse styles and individual methods.

Each artist brings individual strengths to the group: fabric dyeing, painting and printing with precise detail, rich textural effects. We employ a fusion of methods including three dimensional experimentation, complex value manipulation, and varied color techniques.

We maintain a group blog: www.artful-women.blogspot.com which contains background information and a gallery.
