The Town of Danville and the Danville Police Department are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for its youth. The School Resource Officers (SRO) are assigned to the two San Ramon Valley Unified High Schools that are located in Danville. The SRO assists the school administration in maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Both students and staff benefit from the SROs knowledge and experience in handling a variety of situations such as weapons violations, controlled substances, assaults, thefts, trespassers, etc. In addition, SROs provide a service to the surrounding community by addressing concerns such as loitering, speeding or loud car radios, which many times involve students coming or going from school. The School Program Coordinator (SPC) provides programs and assistance to K-8th grade students. The SPC does presentations promoting responsible choices and life skills. Some of the topics include, bullying, drugs, alcohol, decision making, respect and tolerance. The SPC also serves as a liaison to families and youth in crisis and runs the police diversion program for the above listed groups when needed.
