The mission of the Investigations Unit is to identify, arrest, and successfully prosecute individuals, both adults and juveniles who are involved in criminal activity within the Town of Danville. Some of these cases include, but are not limited to: burglary, robbery, assaults, narcotics, sexual assault, fraud, identity theft, forgery, and missing persons.
Most cases that investigators handle originate from the Patrol Unit. Patrol officers take the original report and conduct as much follow-up as possible before giving it to the Investigations Unit. Once in the investigations Unit, cases are prioritized for follow-up by the crime type, seriousness, and available leads. Investigators identify crime trends and work with patrol officers to proactively reduce and prevent crime.
Danville investigators also participate in county-wide multi-organizational task forces, like the Vehicle Suppression Enforcement Team and Sexual Predator Offender Watch.
The Investigations Unit consist of one Sergeant, two Detectives, and one part time investigation specialist. Two full time school resource officers, and one school outreach program coordinator are also part of the Investigations Unit, and work to keep the school safe, while building partnerships with the community.
