In continuing efforts to promote economic development, the Town provides parking opportunities for merchants and employees who work in the Downtown area. In 2009, the Town adopted a Downtown Parking Management Plan which includes several improvements to, and an expansion of, the Downtown Employee Parking Permit Program. Merchants and employees of the Downtown area are encouraged to participate in the employee permit program, as it allows all day parking in select areas of the Downtown while enhancing customer parking turnover within the prime downtown locations.
2013 Employee Parking Permits are now available for purchase online by clicking here. As part of the purchasing process, you must provide proof of employment either in the form of a recent pay stub or business card. Employment verification is encouraged be completed through the online ordering process. Documents can also be submitted in person to the Danville Police Department, 510 La Gonda Way, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
As part of the 2009 Downtown Parking Management Plan initiative, employee permit parking areas are divided into three "zones" throughout the Downtown. The "zones" are colored white, red, and blue on the Employee Permit Parking Map for reference purposes. To be eligible to purchase a permit for Zone 2 ("red") or Zone 3 ("blue"), it is required that your place of business or employment is in the immediate vicinity. All permit holders are eligible to park in Zone 1 ("white"). Please reference the permit parking map when determining your parking zone. Additionally, parking zones are marked in the field on existing parking signs.
- Permits are $25.00 per year for Zone 1, and $50.00 per year for Zones 2 and 3. Please refer to the Employee Permit Parking Map to select the appropriate parking zone that is closest to your place of business or employment.
- Permits are valid from Jan. 1st through Dec. 31st of the year issued. There is no prorating of this fee.
- Proof of employment within the Downtown area is required, and must be verified online or in person at the Danville Police Department.
- Employee permit parking is only valid in areas marked "All Day Parking By Permit Only".
- Employee parking permit stickers shall be placed by affixing it to the inside windshield on the lower left-hand side (driver's side).
