New Teen Zone Unveiled at the Danville Library

Teen Zone at the Danville Library

In December, a new teen zone was unveiled at the Danville Library. The repurposed area, which replaced outdated reference shelves, includes collaborative seating for over 25 teens. The orange and burgundy décor provides an inviting space for teens that matches the library's trademark colors with an extra punch of brightness. The space also features a charging tower for tablets, laptops and mobile phones.

"There are distinct spaces at the library for young children and adult readers," said Danville Library Manager Seng Lovan. "Without adding any additional square footage, we were excited to be able to gather input from the library's Teen Advisory Board to re-envision a current area and create a bright new space exclusively for teen students."

The Danville Library is the highest circulating library in Contra Costa County and has served over 5 million visitors since its opening in 1996. It is open to the public Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

For more information about the Teen Zone, contact Administrative Services Director Nat Rojanasathira, or call the Danville Library at (925) 314-3750.
